First Presbyterian Church invites you to visit Twice is Nice, a thrift shop located at 607 West Elm (Urbana) in a graceful old house which the church owns. The shop is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. It offers U of I students and other area residents an affordable source of clothing for infants through adults; house wares including pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, small appliances, and cooking utensils; blankets, sheets and other linens for the bed and bath; a large variety of books; CDs; collectibles; games; toys; jewelry; and other lightly used items.
The shop is managed by volunteers from First Presbyterian Church as a mission to the community to promote responsible stewardship through reuse of items donated to the shop by church members and others. The church welcomes donations from community members of items to sell in the shop. Proceeds from the shop help the church maintain the house in the historic West Urbana neighborhood and support various mission projects.
Sampling of local mission projects: Eastern Illinois Food Bank, A Woman's Fund, Center for Women in Transition, Empty Tomb, T.I.M.E.S. Center, Frances Nelson Health Clinic, Habitat for Humanity Champaign County
